Thank you for your understanding and support during these unprecedented times.  We wish everyone the very best of health.

Sacred and Secular Music with an international flavour featuring music by Palestrina, Whitacre and others celebrating mothers everywhere.

Of all the types of love,  A Mother’s Love is the strongest;   A Mother’s Love is unconditional and eternal.

The first part of our concert concentrates on important events in the life of Mary, mother of Jesus. We recognise:-

  • her humility in accepting that she was to be ‘the chosen one’
  • her joy at the birth of her son, Jesus
  • her anguish as she watches the horrific death of her son on the cross
  • her reign in Heaven.

For the second part, we travel around the world to hear folk songs from The Philippines, Indonesia and a Traditional Zulu song from Africa reflecting on different aspects of a mother’s love. We include a song based on the poem ‘To my Mother’ by Wendell Berry where a son is reminiscing how absolutely awful he was whilst growing up (I was your rebellious son, do you remember?) and yet how his mother still forgave him despite his faults. Here we witness true, unconditional love!We end the concert with The Seal Lullaby - words by Rudyard Kipling and music by Eric Whitacre - a beautiful story of a mother seal singing softly to her young pup. The ‘Aahh’ factor with which to conclude this 75-minute concert.
