What's On - Follow The Phoenix Singers

Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols - Saturday 22nd December 2018 at 6:30 pm

St John the Evangelist Church, Taunton

This is the 14th year that The Phoenix Singers has held this Christmas Festival of carols and readings, and this year the Choir will enjoy singing in a new venue.  The service which takes place by candellight, is a wonderful way to commence the Christmas celebrations and to discover the true meaning of the festive season.

The Choir will be conducted by its interim musical director David Bridges, Chapel Organist and Choirmaster at Taunton School, and accompanied by John Young, Organist at King's College, Taunton and St John's, Wellington.

The music includes carols by Stephen Cleobury, Herbert Howell's evocative setting of A Spotless Rose; James Lavino's arrangement of John Donne's poem Nativity; Philip Radcliffe's beautifully crafted setting of Thomas Hardy's poem The Oxen; and accompanied carols by Alexander L'Estrange and Stephen Jackson.

The Service is open to all, but as seating is limited it is advised to apply for a Free Ticket.

Free Tickets available from 01st December - Telephone 01823 432704
